Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) 

Equality, diversity and inclusion are important to the PATT40 Conference Committee, Liverpool John Moores University and partner institutions. We are committed to challenging prejudice and biases and removing barriers that hinder equal access and opportunity. We believe that valuing human differences and recognizing diverse talents is central to diversity and that inclusion involves active engagement. PATT40 aims to foster an environment where all individuals are entitled to participate. Therefore, we are committed to advancing a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion in our activities, from planning through to participation. Our conference must provide a welcoming, open and safe environment, embracing the value of every person, regardless of race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, religion, national origin, ancestry, or disability. All individuals are entitled to participate in PATT40 free of discrimination or harassment based on any of the above factors. 

Academic Conduct and Integrity 

PATT40 is committed to fostering and maintaining academic integrity in technology education research and scholarship. Trust, respect, honesty and fairness are values that underpin authoring and peer reviewing and presenting of papers, and the PATT community share responsibility for ensuring that PATT40 is a conference where high standards and rigour are balanced with open-mindedness and inclusivity with regard to research approaches and foci. The PATT40 conference committee encourage respectful and courageous dialogue and debate, where there are differences in opinion, perspective and experience. We seek to understand and grow together, acknowledging diverse ways of knowing and understanding.  

Peer Review 

All abstracts and papers for PATT40 are subject to double-blind peer review by the Review Panel. Authors are expected to make every effort to anonymise their submissions to avoid identification through the paper contents or document metadata. Peer reviewers are expected to approach submissions with kindness and respect, providing clear feedback on effective aspects and actionable feedforward to help authors to improve their papers. The Review Panel reserve the right to reject papers that are outside of the field of technology education, the conference theme and sub-themes, and the quality of the submission. Authors are encouraged to approach peer reviewer comments with an open mind, and adapt/improve their submissions as appropriate. However, failure to adequately respond to feedback may result in a paper being rejected.
